Rose Walsh Smelter Site Clean-Up

San Juan 2000 Development Association, in partnership with San Juan County and the EPA, is launching a critical Brownfield cleanup for the Rose Walsh Smelter site in Silverton.  The cleanup will consolidate and cap lead and arsenic contamination on the site and allow for the development of affordable and attainable housing.

Clean-up will happen in September/October, 2008 and construction will begin on housing in 2009.  Multi-family, single-family and duplex units will be available for families who qualify for affordable (80% of Area Median Income or below) and attainable (81%-120% of Area Median Income) housing assistance.  For more information or to be added to the housing waiting list.
